I'm probably missing a handful, but those are the ones that come to mind. What foods do you go to a restaurant specifically for?
Wow, this list is hot, thanks. I am going to have to check out the places on there I haven´t been to yet. Tacos Matamoros first and foremost.
i'll trade you a taco al pastor for open-air markets in Barcelona, jetsetter! your blog is giving me the travel bug!
Not 21, but off the top of my head...
Jerk Chicken - Brawta Cafe (Bklyn)
Zuppa di Clams -- La Parma (there are three locations, and they might all be on Long Island, but sooo worth it)
Italian sandwiches -- Melampo (SoHo)
Chopped Liver - Barney Greengrass (Upper west side)
Pizza -- Micheal's (Ft Greene, Bklyn)
Chef's tasting menu -- Charles Nob Hill, SF (I know that's kinda cheating, but omg... and don't forget dessert!)
Armenian Chicken -- at that Armenian Chicken joint in Silver Lake, LA (you know the one.)
Lobster -- Duryea's (Montauk)
Baked Striped Bass w/Mango Appetizer - and everything else sushi (Sushi Zone, Market & Pearl, SF)
Burritos - La Cumbre (SF Mission)
Tacos -- Super Rica (Santa Barbara)
i love melampo too. and ooh...chopped liver...i LOVE chopped liver, but i can't remember if i've ever ordered it at barney greengrass. I will have to try it. the one thing i don't get there is the cold borscht -- it's like a glass of beet kefir. jigga-wha?
So unfair that I'm the one that introduced Adam to this great blog a few months ago, but he jumped in ahead of me & listed all our favorite stuff.
I think I may have given him the wrong info on the Armenian chicken joint. Maybe we're thinking of Zankou on Sunset? Why do I keep thinking Silver Lake?
Anyway, he left out the ceviche caesar salad at Tacuqeria Nueve in Portland, OR. We also had an argument about Baan Thai in Portland, which I would nominate just for the tom kha gai, with its tiny perfect cherry tomatoes. And he totally forgot the salad rolls at Sunflower in SF.
Anyway, thank you for Eat Drink One Woman. Someone who loves New York, and food, as much as I do. Yay!
i've heard about zankou a lot, but i've never eaten there. i'm kind of a tourist when it comes to l.a., even though i grew up there.
i've never been to portland, but i've been hearing great things about it of late.
and thank you for enjoying edow!
