Also, west side BBQ joint RIB appears to have closed.  Theirs was a cautionary tale:

"So please, people, don't sentence me to a lifetime of neutral chicken breast sandwiches and flatlining greens over at that other place.  Help keep RIB in business.  Tip the hottie waiters well.  And don't be afraid to tell your friends."

FUCK!  Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck!

Where'm I gonna get my snappy dogs and matzo ball soup and chopped chicken liver now?  And what will happen to that beloved well-lacquered waitress with the onyx helmet hair?  And all my Chinese brothas and sistas working for the Lebewohls in a show of year-round War on Christmas spirit?

No, seriously.  Katz's ain't gonna cut it.

Hey, did you ever make it out to Sunset Park to try Pollo Campero?  Because it's too late now.  I'm glad we got a bucket for one Super Bowl party.  Hasta la vista, Pollo Campero, we're sorry to see you go so soon.

The NYTimes' Florence Fabricant reports:

The last day for Donguri, 309 East 83rd Street, will be Saturday. The owner, Shuji Fujita, who did most of the cooking, needs back surgery, said his wife, Michiko Fujita. The owners of Kai on Madison Avenue have bought it, she said.

I heard great things about Donguri.  Congratulations to the lucky few who have nabbed the last reservations.

Oops.  My bad.  I sent my roommate to Ocean Palace instead of Ocean Port.  Ocean Port is apparently still there.  I refuse to take all the blame though -- those Chinese restaurants need to come up with more distinctive names.

Okay, not quite an obit -- this may be a bit premature.  My roommate went down to Bensonhurst this weekend for some Ocean Port dim sum and found that the building had been completely demolished.  His friend Alex called the phone number and was told that it was being "renovated".  Maybe they'll at least put the name of the restaurant somewhere prominent this time.
