My Glestain santoku and I have had a long and loving relationship for about 3 years now, but the thrill is gone. Okay, so I'm tired of seeing the santoku slut itself around with so many female food show hosts. But I've also had some recent dalliances with La Doug's Sabatier chef's knife. The delicious heft, the generous ten inches, the angle for rocking back and forth...I forgot how great a big, manly knife can be. We're reunited and it feels so good.

Have the Sabatier 8" Chef and love it. I had my knives sharpened at Bway Panhandler last week, and both trips (dropping off, picking up) the staffers were purring over it and asking how I like it (nobody cared about my Wusthof or Global). Def has the most comfortable feel. And the wood handle totally gives it soul too.
What is La Doug's Sabatier chef's knife?
Sorry, La Doug is my roommate. You can read more about him here, here, here, here, and pretty much all over this blog.
hi ganda, i used to be in love with my santoku slut as well. i had a wusthof and henckels but soon started sleeping w/ another slut... a very cheap one. She is a ceramic-coated vegetable (santoku available as well) knife that I got in LA's Koreatown... for only $9.99. Supersharp and not worth sharpening when i can get a new one for nothing. Love the line about reuniting...b/c it does feel so good.
